NGO PARTNERS WITH UNO ATHLETICS, OPS

MAV’S HELP KICK OFF WELLNESS CAMPAIGN

Dates: 09.01.10 to 09.26.10

Press Release:

Omaha, Neb., August 26, 2010: Next Generation Omaha is pleased to announce a partnership with the University of Nebraska at Omaha Athletic Department and Omaha Public Schools, to inspire wellness and teamwork.

Western Hills University Magnet School students are to complete various physical education and wellness tasks at school and at home. The students earn the opportunity to attend the Saturday, October 2, UNO Homecoming football game. NGO will assist in volunteering at the school, as well as the game.

To help kick off the campaign, and partnership, a small group from the Maverick football squad will speak to Western Hills students about teamwork and respect. The assembly takes place Friday, August 27, 1:30 p.m., at 6523 Western Avenue.

Western Hills students will earn points to attend the Thursday, November 4, UNO women’s volleyball match. The “Set Your Goals High” campaign starts in early October, and further aims to increase the young students’ school attendance.

“NGO is committed to working with our UNO and OPS friends,” NGO President Michael Young said. “This will be fulfilling way to spend our time volunteering, and I’m especially excited to see the kids’ faces when they get to meet the UNO athletes. What better way to inspire kids than to show them the value and real results of teamwork and dedication.”
